On Monday at 9:00
A.M. we left Plymouth, Mass., going to Jack Levesque's place in Monson,
Mass. When we arrived Jack told me he has a full schedule today and
took me to the Austine School for the Deaf in Brattleboro, VT.
We stopped by the Superintendent's office to meet Mike Finneran, who used
to be at the California School for the Deaf and is now the Supt. for Austine
School. Jack had a meeting while Mike took me around the school.
It is really lovely, a beautiful small hilly campus. There is a Hilltop
Montessori School and Vermont Interpreting Referral Service. A Rope
Course Service made a contract to pay the rent spaces. This helped
the school's financial budget since there are only 95 students. Mike
believes that in the future they will have more new students and be able
to stop the contracts and use the spaces for students.
We drove back to Jack's
home and he made three of us men do a small job putting in fencing posts
and fence to make a bigger space for sheep. Three sheep are happy
to eat fresh grass. Then we went to a tavern to chat and had fun.
On Tuesday I had a
good rest and caught up on washing clothes. Tommy Garro, one of the
reunion committeee, talked with me by TTY and told me things were changing
to be better for the reunion. I was glad he did a good job.
Then I went to bed, getting ready to leave for MD tomorrow.
