Touring from Hinckley, Minnesota thru Wisconsin and Michigan

On Wednesday I decided to leave now instead of tomorrow due to its being a nice day, and rode all day on Route 48, then Route 8 through Wisconsin to get to Route 2 to Michigan.  During the first 6 hours the weather was nice as I was going through heavy density of trees, green brush, and sometimes swamp like in Louisiana, but there were no alligators.  Then a light rain started and I kept myself going covered with the yellow rubber coat and pants.  At 8:00 P.M. it started raining hard and made me quit riding.  I stopped by a motel a few miles before the small town of Manistique, MI, at the north edge of Lake Michigan. The odometer told me that I had ridden over 400 miles.

On Thursday A.M. I was glad the rain had stopped, but the wind was strong and steady all day.  When I came to Mackinaw, a big sign warned RV's to drive 20 MPH due to strong winds.  I believed that I managed all right except on Grill Street I felt uncomfortable.  However, if rain appeared, it would make me stop until the bad weather cleared up.  Turning from Route 2 to Route 75 I went all the way to Port Huron, with strong winds making me tense and feeling tired quickly.  I stopped and camped at Lakeport State Park at Port Huron, MI.  This Park is near a swamp where the mosquitoes were happy to see me so they could bite me.  But my good tent kept the mosquitoes away!

On Friday A.M. I would enter Canada, going to Toronto, Canada.
